Color Testing

It’s quite normal for the colors in your rug to bleed.  If it’s a good quality rug, the bleeding will be minimal.  If it was purchased from a discount retailer, the colors are more likely to bleed heavily.  Before we commence the cleaning process, we inspect the rug.  We’ll examine its properties and determine its composition and manufacturer’s cleaning recommendations.  Next, the cleaning specialist will conduct a color test.  By laying a damp, white, cotton, towel on the rug and allowing it to set for 24 hours, we can determine how the rug will behave once steam cleaned. 

Hand Washing

The advent of technologically advanced machinery has made rug cleaning more efficient.  But it hasn’t eliminated the need for hand washing.  At Yonkers Carpet Cleaners, a great deal of labor goes into restoring rugs to their original condition.  We use copious amounts of water, squeegees and brushes to thoroughly clean your rugs.  Our team combines manpower with technology to yield a result that is second to none.  Most carpet cleaning companies will get in and out in less than 30 minutes with a standard steam cleaner.  They’ll say your carpet is clean but they don’t clean down to the backing.  For a meticulous clean that is guaranteed to last, meticulous hand washing is required.

Centrifuge

We clean rugs the old fashioned way.  Newer is not always better.  We combine old school know how with new school technology.  Fifty years ago, all rugs were cleaned the old fashioned way.  The need to make a quick buck has paved the way for cursory and superficial rug cleanings.  We are the only company in Westchester County with a centrifuge.  Once your rug is hand scrubbed, it is placed inside this machine to be agitated and rotated at 50Gs – as in 50 times gravity.  The centrifuge removes any remaining dirt and 98% of the water from the rug.  The result is that rugs look better than when they were first purchased.

Rug Cleaning Facility

When our clients are short on time, we arrive on their property with an agitator plus steam cleaner and go to work.  If you don’t have an important event right around the corner, we can take your rugs for a detailed cleaning at our rug cleaning facility.  In this way we are able to completely soak rugs with water and detergent.  We don’t have to worry about getting water all over your abode or office during the process.  The drying time is expedited because we put the rugs in a customized drying room with industrial strength fans and humidifiers.
